Greenway Bike Tour of Shelly Lake and Surrounding Area

When:

Saturday, Jul 26, 2008
10 AM departure

Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in and prepare your bike

Details:

Shelley Lake consists of a 53 acre lake and park land that connects to 12.5 continuous miles of paved, scenic green-way trails. The trail circumnavigates the lake and continues beyond Crabtree Valley Mall. We will travel a total of 20 to 25 miles and plan to stop periodically for water breaks. At the half way point we will stop back at our cars for a snack.

There are many opportunities to enjoy nature, including beautiful and serene woods, views of the lake, and abundant wildlife. If we are attentive on- trail we may see rabbits, Pileated Woodpecker, Downey Woodpecker, coyote, Canadian geese, wood ducks, mallard ducks, squirrel, chipmunk, deer, etc.

All participants will be required to wear helmets and carry water. The breeze generated by our riding and the shade provided by the trees on the trail will make this ride enjoyable in any weather, even a hot summer day. Space is limited so register early. This trip requires a $10 refundable deposit. Cancellations must be made at least 10 days prior to trip date. Please make checks out to the Sierra Club and mail to the address provided.
