About Us

The Sierra Club's North Carolina Chapter was formed in 1970. It currently has 17,000 members and 13 local groups across the state. The Chapter's statewide office is located in downtown Raleigh and we have a regional office in Charlotte.

The NC Chapter of Sierra Club has worked to pass groundbreaking environmental legislation on both the local and national level. Past issues range from putting an end to hog waste pollution to protecting the integrity of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Across the state and in our capital, NC Sierra Club advocates for a clean, healthy North Carolina that is safe for its current citizens and preserved for future citizens.
